Maurice
Sport Physiotherapist | Personal Trainer
Reliable – Structured – Compassionate
Maurice has been active as a physiotherapist in Amsterdam since 2010. Born in Rotterdam, raised in IJsselstein, and educated in Utrecht, he moved to Amsterdam immediately after his studies, where he has lived happily ever since.
Privately, Maurice is both sporty and creative. From playing football and squash in the past, to currently enjoying mountain biking, cycling, fitness, calisthenics, and the occasional run. He finds relaxation in sports and painting, and sitting still is not really his thing. Travel and road trips hold a special place in his heart, with the highlight being an unforgettable off-road motorcycle trip to Dakar.
Maurice began his career at Squash City, where he worked with top athletes, including a former world squash champion. He accompanied her and other international top players during competitions. Additionally, he ran his own independent practice in Amsterdam for four years.
Inspired by his own experiences with sports injuries, Maurice became fascinated by physiotherapy. He briefly studied at the Academy of Physical Education (ALO), but physiotherapy proved to be his true passion. Alongside his practice, he also provides personal training, with a focus on functional training.
Maurice’s therapeutic approach focuses on giving clients control over their physical complaints. He believes that understanding the problem is key to recovery and regaining mastery over the body. Exercise forms a major part of his therapy, complemented by techniques such as dry needling and ultrasound imaging. His specialties include dry needling, ultrasound, and a Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy.
Clients working with Maurice can expect a structured and goal-oriented treatment process. He collaborates closely with his clients, explains clearly what is happening, and helps them take action to reduce their complaints. His experience, dedication, and decisiveness ensure that clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Maurice’s mission is clear: he wants everyone to take control of their own health.
